Kitchen Renovation
In this kitchen renovation we used recessed LED lighting laid out to ensure even light levels.
The recessed lights are switched from two locations and controlled by a dimming switch.
The under-cabinet lighting is colour matched to the recessed lights to add consistency in the overall appearance of the room.
This is one of my favourite kitchens because of it’s classic function and form. The modern look is backed up by the prep,cook, serve and clean-up in a “round the clock” use of counter space.

LED Lighting Upgrade – Electrician Vernon BC
Quantum Power completed this commercial LED lighting upgrade to improve exterior light levels at the parking lot, refueling station and equipment yard for Hertz Equipment Rental. The objective was to provide better visibility, improve energy efficiency and ensure the work areas met applicable WorkSafeBC illumination requirements.

Improving Exterior Lighting and Workplace Safety
Exterior lighting is particularly important around commercial properties where employees may be working early in the morning, after dark or around vehicles and equipment.
For this project, the required light levels were based on WorkSafeBC illumination guidelines. Low-activity exterior areas such as parking lots generally require lower illumination levels, while high-activity areas such as frequently used walkways and access points require higher levels.
The fueling station was treated as a high-activity area requiring greater illumination, while the equipment yard and parking area were evaluated according to the appropriate requirements for lower-activity exterior spaces.
Quantum Power assessed the existing lighting system before determining the best approach for the LED upgrade.
Existing 400-Watt Metal-Halide Lighting
The existing light pole used a quad-mount system fitted with conventional 400-watt metal-halide fixtures.
Before replacing the lighting, we inspected the fixtures and their electrical components, housings, lenses, seals and mounting hardware. Two of the existing lights were no longer operating, while the remaining fixtures had noticeably reduced light output, indicating that the lamps were approaching the end of their useful life.
The fixture housings, lenses, seals and hardware remained in good condition despite some normal weathering. Rather than replacing otherwise serviceable fixtures, we determined they were excellent candidates for an LED retrofit.
This approach allowed Quantum Power to reuse suitable existing equipment while improving lighting performance and reducing electrical consumption.
Energy-Efficient LED Retrofit
The existing metal-halide components were removed and the fixtures were cleaned and prepared for the new LED lighting.
The retrofit used 120-volt, 115-watt LED replacement lamps, providing a substantial reduction in power consumption compared with the original 400-watt metal-halide lamps.
LED lighting provides several important advantages for commercial properties, including lower electrical consumption and operating costs, approximately 50,000 hours of lamp life, reduced maintenance requirements, immediate full light output, improved directional light output and better illumination of the intended work area.

Automated Dusk-to-Dawn Lighting
Energy efficiency wasn’t the only consideration.
During the LED upgrade, Quantum Power installed a photocell for automatic dusk-to-dawn operation. The exterior lights turn on automatically as daylight levels decrease, helping maintain consistent nighttime lighting and improving security around the property.
We also installed a manual override switch so employees can operate the lighting when required, including when arriving before dawn or working outside normal business hours.
Once the installation was complete, all fixtures were mounted, tested and energized. Light-level measurements were taken at the fueling station, parking lot and equipment yard to confirm that the upgraded lighting provided the required illumination.

Leviton EV320 Level 2 EV Charger Installation by Quantum Power

Custom EV Charging Solution

For this project, the homeowner also wanted a convenient location to charge an e-bike. We installed a dedicated 120-volt, 20-amp GFCI receptacle beside the EV charger, creating a versatile outdoor charging station for multiple electric vehicles.
Power was supplied from the home’s main electrical panel through a new 50-amp feeder to a four-circuit sub-panel. From there, we installed a dedicated 30-amp circuit for the Leviton EV320 charger and a separate 20-amp circuit for the e-bike charging receptacle
